The Coxes (Putter, Linda & 1 year old Geoff) left NJ for Dallas, TX in August 1980 so that Putter could attend Dallas Theological Seminar, obviously ending their tenure with the Tools. They returned for a few months in the summer of 1982 to do a pastoral internship at Clinton Baptist Church. In 1984 Putter completed his ThM degree and took a position as a pastoral intern at Eastern Hills Bible Church in suburban Syracuse, NY. This led to starting a church in Hamilton, NY (home of Colgate University). They served there for the next 31 years, ministering in that University community - in the town and on the campus. Putter was invited to be official (volunteer) staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (the national campus ministry, which maintains a chapter at Colgate) in 2000. He also served as Protestant Chaplain at Colgate from 2009-2015.

in the early '90s Linda started a catering business, which lasted for several years. They had a second son, Jordan, who was born a couple of weeks after moving to Hamilton in May, 1985. Linda became involved as a water fitness instructor at a program for elderly and disabled folks at Colgate. She also continued her culinary activities on a more limited and ministry basis. Putter became involved in musical groups (like the Tools). Between 1997 and 2016 he was part of Crosswords (a full band), and two duos, Acrosstic and Dove Creek.

Both sons graduated from the University of Richmond (Geoff '01; Jordan '07). Geoff married Lori Morse (Curt & Susan's middle daughter) in 2005; he now works for Pfizer; they have three children and live in eastern CT. Jordan married Mandi Williams (a UR classmate) in 2011; she is a pharmacist and he is a forensic scientist. They live in Richmond, VA.

In 2016 Putter and Linda retired from pastoral ministry at Hamilton Bible Fellowship, the church they started in 1985. They moved to Luray, VA and started River Dell Bed & Breakfast (riverdelbb.com). Putter is also the part time minister of music at Main Street Baptist Church in Luray.

Note from Buff: We just happened to have a picture of Linda, Putter at Geoff at the going away party the Tools gave them. We also have one of them (this time with Jordan) when they were visiting and traveled with us in the Tool motorhome in 1987 to an engagement at Bethany Chapel. Finally we found a couple of pics of Linda’s expression when she walked into the party!
